Startset “My Demons” Gets My Vote For Music Video Of The Year

Nikola Tesla

The latest video from Startset, “My Demons”, has totally blown me away. The storyline and historical and Science Fiction elements are outstanding. Plus, I’m a huge Nikola Tesla nerd.

If you haven’t heard of the band “Starset”, don’t worry. They are fairly new, but they are definitely showing up on the radar more and more everyday. I first heard the song while doing an air shift at my new station, KUPD. I went to their website (www.starsetonline.com) to learn more, and what I got was more than I ever could have bargained for.

Here’s the breakdown. The band is bigger than just their music. Apparently they have been “commissioned by the Starset Society to spread broad awareness of The Message through music and media”.

What is the message? Well their mission statement says:

The Message contains the knowledge necessary to spare the future of humanity, and we will do whatever we must to inform the public.”

Basically the Starset Society are believers in the works of the greatest inventor and scientist ever, Nikola Tesla. In 1911 Tesla was working on a project called the Wardenclyffe Tower. This project was supposed to reinvent the way the world received electricity. It would be free for all and would travel wirelessly through the air for incredible distances.  Other theories say that he was trying to make contact with beings outside of the planet, and he just might have succeeded.

Tesla’s work was then funded by mainly by financial mogul, J.P Morgan. At the time Tesla was supposed to be working on a way to communicate wirelessly (radio) , something that Tesla had succeeded in years ago, but had no interest at this point. When Morgan heard of an Italian, Guglielmo Marconi, that had brought this invention to light, he decided to pull the plug on the Wardenclyffe funding, and have the tower destroyed before Telsa could finish his work.

The new Starset video for “My Demons” takes you through a journey of one of the many scenarios that could have happened.  The idea in the video is that Telsa actually received a warning transmission from the future, but the message was only partly recorded. When he takes this knowledge to J.P Morgan and asks for more funding, he is denied. Morgan doesn’t see any “profit” in this and shuts it down.

To this day nobody really knows what Telsa discovered on that Colorado mountain. Almost all of his secret works, ideas, and theories have been confiscated by government agencies. It seems as though the Starset Society is in the works to bring that knowledge to people, which could be really fucking exciting.

For now, enjoy this amazing video of “My Demons” by Starset.

  • I definitely love the way that the music video is carried out. I love how it goes from future to past and to what looks like the present. I love the way the song itself sounds as well because it’s catching and they lead singer is very, very talented. I’d give it an A+
