The idea behind “ROCKSTAR RADIO™” is connection. Connecting the fans with the music that they love. Rock and Heavy Metal is not just a format, it’s a lifestyle. Growing up radio has always been a large part in how the music connected to me. From a young age, I knew I had to be a part of it.
I set out in 2002 to become a part of this radio machine, and I created “Rockstar Radio™”. After graduating from a broadcast school in Spokane, Washington, I got my first gig at a Classic Rock station on the Midnight to 6am shift. Since that day I have never looked back. The industry and music is constantly changing, but what doesn’t change is the connection. I still believe people want to be entertained. They want to know the guy on the other side of the microphone has the same love, and passion for the music and lifestyle as they do. My goal every time I’m on the air is to make every listener feel like they are the Rock Star!
The future goal of “Rockstar Radio™” is to further my career success, and the success of the station that employs me. Make no mistake, I’m out to change the game of Rock Radio. I want to bring it to the next level in the way it entertains, and reaches it’s audience.
“ Dude, your show rocks!!!”
-Joel Denver, All Access Music Group
“The fact that radio is losing a lot more people like Shawn than it’s developing pretty much tells you why radio is in the trouble it’s in”
-Barry Lyons, Rent A Label
“Shawn’s not only my brother but the hardest working motherf***er I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. And I’m not just talking about his amazing ability to f*** with telemarketers, I’m talking about the station being off the air at 3am and him rushing to the building (or even up the mountain!) to fix it, I’m talking about his passion for radio, his passion for bands and music and ROCK!”
-Angel Hughes, Operations Manager/Townsquare Media, Program Director, KBAZ/96.3 The Blaze
“Montana has a proud tradition of broadcasting excellence, and Shawn Whitney has earned a spot at the top”
-Jon Tester, U.S Senator
“Shawn Approaches each day of work like a starving jackal approaches a gazelle fawn with a limp.”
-Dave Cowan, Director Of Operations, Montana Radio Company
